EPA's Renovation, Repair, and Painting Final Rule (40 CFR 745) requires that renovations conducted for compensation must be performed by Certified Firms using Certified Renovators.     Failure to comply may lead to penalties up to $32,500 per violation per day and even jail time.   The EPA is serious about this rule and will be enforcing it.  Even more important is the fact that lead in paint  (paint dust is the big concern) can seriously harm you, your family, your pets,  your tenants, and your friends.   The effects of Lead poisoning can be: headaches, stomach aches, irritability, fatigue, joint aches, erectile dysfunction, high blood pressure, and digestive problems to name a few. Expose this stuff to children under 6 or pregnant mothers and you can get miscarriages, ADD, leaning disabilities and even serious brain damage.
